Ok. Now, let me start by saying that as I'm not a very well-read person, this list is not going to bring me half as much pride as it is going to cause me embarrassment.If you actually have the patience to go through the list of hundred, you are most likely to notice that the “READ” mark is put on more Harry Potters than Kite Runners. Also, you might notice more “SAW” tags than “READ” ones because I belong to that stray school of thought which believes that a movie should be watched before its book (on which the flick is originally based on) is read.
And the few classics, which I did happen to go through, were forced into me at gunpoint, while I was doing my literature in college.
I bow my head in shame.

I read my first Stephen King when I was about twelve and didn't like him. Tried him again when I was doing my MA at MCC. Still didn't like him. Tried again in '96 May on a trip to Kodai when I read about 30 books over a one week period and then again three years ago on a weekend trip to Goa. Obviously I must have tried the wrong books. Have the Shawshank Redemption and am hoping to read it tomorrow on a long flight to Delhi. Maybe, just maybe I'll change my mind.
I adore Douglas Adams.
Ayn Rand - loved Fountainhead, which I read in school ( hidden between the covers of my Math textbook) and was totally taken up with 'Night of January Sixteenth) Was not too captivated by Atlas Srugged or We, the People.
I definitely like Adrian Mole:-)
Edgar Karat - Yes, think he's awesome. We're going to hear a lot more of him in the next few years.
It's difficult for me to actually decide on favourite writers, but Eliot - definitely number one. Emily Bronte is a close second. Tolkien & Adams keep exchanging positions 3 and 4.

Shain: The Stand? I liked the way King built up the whole story with the epidemic thingy, then formed the two communities of good and bad... but, I DID NOT like the way he ended it. With a stupid bomb that explodes itself in the enemy camp.
I thought the idea of one page deciding the fate of an eight-hundred-page novel was pretty crappy.
@ 3inOne: Admittedly, not all of King's books are good. Stuff like 'Thinner' and 'Cujo' are proper crap.
But I like his novellas a lot. Like 'Shawshank redemption' and 'The Body'.
@ DA: Ohhhhh.. not seen or read 'A walk to remember'. Am such a loser :(
